So, my final choice: “Pin, Pan Pun by Kaskais ticks all my boxes.
http://www.ppfuk.com/gallery_image_1253039982.html I love traditional documentary work and this picture has the timeless quality that reminds me of Henri Cartier-Bresson and I can pay it no greater compliment than that.

I agree. when I first saw your post I rolled my eyes a little and was expecting just another boring photograph made somewhat less boring by simply inverting it. Gimmicky attempts like that does very little for me. However I was pleasantly surprised, this is not the case, and I really like what you did.
It brings into question when a photograph ceases to be a photograph and stirs up the same kind of questions for me that alternative process does. It is also a what I think of as a "true abstract", form and composition without context, and while this arises from processing, this something that is hard to achieve in photography. I also like how you tie the subject back into the abstraction by not titling it something obtuse and sophomoric, like "Untitled 6" or "Chaotic Tranquility" (whatever titles like that mean) I do like this a lot.

You take some very freaky pictures, but I do like them. Good idea.

A 2.500 € unas y a 3.000 € otras... Santi....

I have to agree Kaskais is definitely what I'd call an "art photographer" and at a higher level than most photographers, myself well and truly included in that group.
For me this particular image mostly works, the only thing I'm not too sure about is the orange blob (sun?). I keep looking at this shot (reduced size to fit full height) and placing and removing my thumb over it. Just can't make my mind up. If anyone hasn't seen the Kaskais site, I'd recommend a viewing, not only will you see a lot of darn good images, you may learn a little more about his enigmatic ways.
I find his shots an inspiration, but I have always stopped short of posting the odd experiment here as mine never look a patch compared to the Kaskais style. Perhaps we should have a "Kaskais homage" challenge to get the artist in every photographer to exercise and display their take on a scene rendered in his style. And isn't imitation said to be the sincerist form of flattery? Just a thought.

Try to imagine this image hanging on a gallery wall and transferred to linen and poster size.....wow? Kaskais, you have a very distinctive style and many of us will strive for years and never get that kind of personality into our work...you have certainly crossed the state border between image capture county and artsville

"Hi Kaskais,
I posted a response to this thread earlier, but I don't see it anywhere. So, here goes again.
Excellent image. The tones and mood make for great story telling. Great depth of field and composition.
Well done. Frame it.

"Here's a cover photo for a travel brochure if I've ever seen one. Excellent decision to go vertical on this image. Really exudes a sense of majesty and overwhelming space. Having the two people on the beach and the brilliant shades of orange is the icing on the cake.
Well done.

"The reason kaskais doesn't say much is because, by his own admission, his English isn't very good. This picture, for me, is a miss, which is rare for him. When he gets a "hit", however I have to put my eyeballs in the fridge, afterwards."

"Kaskais, NOT good -- PERFECT.
Excellent work. Great eye, good composition, fine exposure, nice post processing and extremely compelling images. Wish I had taken them.
FRAME THEM!

"Fernando, My pictures are merely pictures, snapped as any other would, not ART and as such i'm struggeling to give them the  punch and meaning. Your "Tsunami" and  abstracts are fantastic ! Im trying to learn !"

"I do like the simplicity of you images.
I imagine they would sell reasonably well for this reason?
People a lot of the time tend to purchase an artwork purely based on 'Colour'.
This makes these sorts of images very effective, because it affects people emotionally (impulse buyers)."
